7 Must Have Meal Prep Tools

Meal prepping was a huge game changer in our house when it came to trying to eat a clean diet. Fast food was so convenient but we were feeling sick and sluggish and it was doing nothing but further damaging my gut. I had heard about meal prepping but I thought it meant I would have to spend an entire day cooking and be eating boring meals that didn’t taste very good.

The good new is, meal prepping for us meant NONE of that! We eat delicious lunches that we look forward to eating each week, save a ton of money, and only spend about 1 hour cooking for the two of us.

Here are 7 tips for making meal prepping the easiest thing you’ll do all week!

  1. a rice cooker that also steams your veggies!

Less dishes to do is always a plus for me! This rice cooker lets you cook your rice and steam your veggies at the same time so everything is done in the same pot and done at the same time. I love this one from amazon!

2. a Vegetable Chopper

Not only does a vegetable chopper take WAY less time then cutting up everything by hand, you get everything into a uniform shape for even cooking! We’ve had ours for years and I don’t know how I ever chopped veggies without it. This is the one that we use!

3. Uniform Meal Prep Containers

One of my favorite things is looking into my fridge after I am done meal prepping and seeing all the same containers stacked up to the top. It saves so much room in your fridge too! These are my favorite containers or you could also opt for some glass ones as well!

4. A Large Crockpot

Cooking with a crockpot is by far the easiest way to meal prep. Just put your meat in and let it sit for 4-6 hours and assemble your meals! I generally put my food in the crockpot when I wake up in the morning and then its done by lunch time! Here are some awesome affordable crockpots that are great for dinners too!

5. Cutting Boards

From cutting up meat, slicing veggies, and keeping your counters clean - a good cutting board is a must have! I love my wood cutting boards and leave them on my counter for decor but I also have some of these plastic cutting boards as well! You honestly cannot have too many! Especially when you are cooking a lot of food at once, having more than one on hand can be super helpful.

6. A Great Knife Set

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to cut lots of food with a bad knife. Getting a reliable knife set will make meal prepping so much easier.

7. Measuring Tools

I love my pyrex measuring cups for measuring out liquids and making sauces in! The fact that they are microwave and dishwasher safe is an added bonus. Especially when I am using herbs and spices, these stainless steel measuring spoons come in super handy.
